A brief note on Sargur Town (In English)
Ø Sargur Town previously called by the name Santhe Sargur.
Ø H D Kote (Heggadadevanakote) is about 12 km north of Sargur.
Ø Sargur Town panchayath (TP) is located in H D Kote Taluk, Mysore District.
Ø The Town Panchayath (T.P) Sargur was constituted on 2002.
Ø The Sargur Town Stretches to an area of 1.32 Sq.Kms. (As Per GIS Survey)
Ø H D Kote (Heggadadevanakote) is about 12 km north of Sargur. It is 50 km from the city of Mysore. Bangalore International Airport is 200 km away To be more elaborate, Sargur is 34 km from Nanjangud town (Karnataka), 35 km from Gundlupet town (Karnataka), and 39 km from Hunsur town (Karnataka). The Town is situated along Hunsur –Begur Road State Highway 86 at a distance of 56 Kms from Mysore City.
Ø Sargur located at 11°58’60" N 76°25’0" E on the south of Mysore District is surrounded by Hassan district in the north, Mandya district and Chamarajanagar district in the east and kodagu district in the west and Kerala State in the South.
Ø The Town has the famous Mudala Mata, Paduvala Mata and Sri Someshwara Temple.
Ø Sargur is well connected by road network to Bangalore city towards north east, Hunsur road on its north, Gundulpet road on its south and Narasipura road to its south.
Ø Sargur receives an average rainfall of 989 mm. The climate of the Sargur is moderate through the year with temperature during summer ranging from 30° to 40° C and during winter from 20°C to 25°C. The average annual precipitation is around 76 cm the rainfall ranging from 62 cm to 88 cm.
Ø Chikkadevammana Hill stands at 4 Kms from the Sargur Town.
Ø The famous Kabini Dam, Nugu Dam and Birval Dam are near from the Sargur Town.
Ø Sargur is located at latitude 11° 58' 60" N and longitude 76° 25' 0" E . It has an average elevation of 686 metres (2253 feet). Suvarnavathy River, tributary of the Kabini River flows through this hamlet which provides for the irrigation needs of the villagers through the Kabini – Nugu River irrigation system. Kabini reservoir and Nugu reservoir and the Bandipur Tiger Reserve are the tourist attractions for people visiting Sargur
Ø The Town has a Population of 11,425 as per Census 2011.
Ø The T.P has 11 Wards and equal number of Councilors and 3 Numbers of Nominee Councilors.
Ø The famous Swamy Vivekananda Memorial Hospital is situated in Hanchipura Road, Sargur.
Ø The Source of Water supply to Sargur is Kabini River (Tributary of Cauvery).
Ø Sargur is situated the River kabini or Kapila flows near to the that is main water source for the town the kabini right Bank canal flows at the southern part of the town.
Ø There are 3 declared slums in Sargur TP, all notified by KSCB and 1 non-declared slum in Sargur TP.
Ø The economy of the Sargur town is mainly agrarian. Agriculture produces like ragi, paddy, cotton, sugarcane, tobacco etc., are abundantly available. As per KMC Act, 1964, provision of water supply is the obligatory (primary) function of Sargur TP.

Birth and Death certificates from 1990 to till date and from now on wards citizens are requested to visit the Town Panchayath Office for registration and getting of Birth and Death certificates by paying service fee. Citizens are requested to make use of this facility.
Solid Waste Management:-
Solid Waste Management in 11 wards has been work by Town panchayath Poura Karmikas, It includes street sweeping and waste transportation. Door-to-Door Collections are done in 7 Wards.
